An unplanned expatriate blogger behind Calm Fields Way

Hello, I'm Alejandro
I work as a project manager. A parent. An expat living in Madrid, Spain.
A few years ago, I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually unfolded into a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Began
Moving to Spain wasn’t in the plans for the long term. Like many expat transitions, it started as a work opportunity and soon grew into something significantly larger.
The initial months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks felt more complicated than they should.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. But gradually, routines formed. We discovered places that worked for us, connected with other families, and started building something that felt stable.
Why I Created Calm Fields Way
Most information online was either corporate-level relocation guidance or surface-level tourism material. What was missing was honest, day-to-day family perspective.
This site exists to bridge that gap — practical advice based on real life in Spain.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site IS:
- Hands-on experience from living in Spain
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated when something truly changes
This site ISN'T:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- Not a sponsored review platform
- Not a generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our stay in Spain goes on, and so does our learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll continue recording what we uncover.
If you have questions about family life in Madrid or anywhere in Spain, feel free to reach out.
Cheers,
Alejandro
